San Jose boy cited after pointing fake gun at school

A 12-year-old boy has been cited by San Jose police for aiming a fake handgun at his school after he got into a fistfight.

The replica gun — which can shoot plastic pellets — was unloaded, police said, and no one was injured in the incident. The boy was cited for “brandishing a replica firearm in a threatening manner.”

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Police are increasing patrols in and around a San Jose middle school after a student allegedly made threats against teachers.

Karen Fuqua, a spokeswoman for the San Jose Unified School District, says the student in question at Willow Glen Middle School has been suspended for writing threats against teachers on a bathroom wall. The student is up for expulsion.

Horizon Air adds flights at San Jose

Horizon Air is the latest airline to expand its service at Mineta San Jose International Airport.

The airline, a corporate cousin of Alaska Airlines, will add a new daily nonstop flight to Sacramento beginning Aug. 25. It will depart San Jose at 9:30 a.m., arriving in California’s capital city at 10:10 a.m. It will return later in the day, departing Sacramento International Airport at 5:05 p.m., arriving in Silicon Valley at 5:45 p.m.
